Adult Learn to Curl Program:

The SPCC offers an Adult Learn to Curl Program for curlers age 18 and over. Instruction will review the basics of flat foot / no lift delivery, sweeping, rules, drills and games with an emphasis on fun and participation. Sunday 4:00 - 6:00 pm, cost is $120.00 + gst for 8 lessons - Total - $126.00

Greetings and welcome to the Sherwood Park Curling Club's Adult Learn to Curl  Program. The main theme of this program is to have fun learning the sport of  curling combined in a relaxed environment.

The dates that this session will  be using are as follows: Oct 14, 21, 28, Nov 4, 18, 25, Dec 2, and 9. We  currently have 15+ people registered for the program and would like to limit  total registrations to a maximum of 32. The first day of instruction is October  14 at 4:00 PM. On this first night we will provide you with a great deal of  information:

•what you will require for equipment
•how to prepare  prior to going onto the curling ice surface
•the different parts of the ice  surface
•all about the curling stones/rocks
•the basics of the curling  slide techniques, and
•the curling turns that cause a curling rock to  "curl".

Each of the following weeks will be used to break down specific  parts of each of the above and more. Once you have a good grasp of the basics  you will be formed into teams and practice what you have been taught in actual  games. After the first couple of weeks of instruction, the following sessions  will consist of warm-up, slide and throwing practice and additional instruction  followed by a 3-4 end game. We would appreciate it if everyone would try to  arrive by 3:45 pm for each session so that we can be organized, complete our  pre-curling stretching and be on the ice by 4:00 pm.

If you have not  purchased any equipment to date please do not prior to our first night. Our Tuck  Shop will be offering you a package of equipment that will suit your  requirements. In the meantime we will provide you with a gripper, sliders and  brooms from our Junior Program. A flat sole type of running shoe will work well  with the slider and grippers for the first session and will provide you with the  necessary stability. Curling gloves are optional but some type of gloves will  keep your hands warm during the instructional time. We recommend loose fitting  clothing with a couple of layers on your upper body that you can remove when not  required but will keep you warm when you are less active.

As I mentioned in  the first sentence, our purpose is to teach you the fundamentals of curling in a  relaxed fun atmosphere. I look forward to meeting all of you on  Sunday.
Please contact me if you have any questions.

Welcome to the Sherwood Park Curling Club’s Adult Intermediate Curling Program. The dates of this session will be November 18th, 25th, December 2nd and 9th.
